- What is it?
PhosphatidylSerine Matrix™, contains phosphatidyl serine, also called PS, which supports memory, learning, comprehension, and word recall. In addition to supporting all of the higher brain functions, studies indicate that it also decreases minor anxiety and occasional stress.
- How does it work?
Mental function depends on the transmission of electrical impulses, messages being passed from one cell or neuron to another. The substances that enables the cells to conduct that electrical communication are specialized fat molecules called phospholipids.
- Is PS a phospholipid?
Yes. There are many phospholipids: phosphatidyl choline, phosphatidyl ethanolamine, phosphatidyl inositol, diphosphatidyl glycerol… but one of the most important phospholipids is phosphatidyl serine.
- How does it help the brain function?
Phospholipids, particularly phosphatidyl serene, make up most of the nerve cell outer membrane. Phospholipids keep the neurons flexible and active. Most importantly for the brain, they help conduct electrical impulses that run down the nerve and are the basis of our thoughts, reactions, memories, feeling and creativity. Sufficient phosphatidyl serine is needed for all of the brain’s highest functions.*
